Benefits You Will Get From Blogging
First up, a few reasons why you should consider blogging.
Each day, about 172,800 blogs are created. That’s two blogs every second. Benefits from blogging cannot be over emphasaize. With so many blogs springing up daily, you might be wondering, “Should I start a blog?”
Well, I think yes!
In my short life, I’ve taken up and dropped a lot of jobs and hobbies. I’ve done Sales Executive, Safety Officer.. I’ve devoted years to playing football. I’ve been preoccupied with programming. I’ve experimented with printing and branding. I’ve engaged in part-time works. I’ve even played with paint making and other products. But none of them has moulded my person, given me as much freedom and fulfillment, and brought me influence and financial stability as blogging. I’m such a big fan of blogging. Here are 35 compelling reasons you must let another day pass you by without starting a blog.
#1 BLOGGING HELPS YOU LEARN NEW THINGS
Blogging is about sharing what you see, know or experienced in the world. It’s about teaching or sharing what you know and what you, too, are learning. When you start a blog, you’ll find yourself always learning new things about your areas of interest so you can keep sharing without running dry of ideas. Think of it this way: when you set out to wash clothes, your objective is to clean the clothes, not your hands, but it’s your hands which become clean first.
You don’t have to be an expert in what you blogging about because nobody knows it all. It is in the processing of blogging that you grow into an expert and that how your readers would see you.
#2 BLOGGING MAKES YOU THINK CLEARER
The ability to think clearly and generate ideas is one of life’s most critical skills, yet one of the things you don’t get taught in school. Blogging fills that void, helping you grow your thinking muscles exponentially. Of course you must be clear on what you want to share to your audience. You have to understand first before you are understood.
You’ll learn to reflect deeply on your life, your blog niche, your relationships and your society; engage with others intellectually, appreciate the strengths in arguments and point out the flaws in them; appreciate the tiny distinctions between what, why and how; the nexus and disparity between excuses and justifications, and so on.
#3 BLOGGING HELPS YOU WRITE BETTER
Many things have boosted my writing proficiency over the years: essay contests, tapping from mentors, reading books, etc. But none of them has challenged me so consistently as blogging.
Here’s why: writing mastery comes with constant practice and blogging is just about that. In his epic book, On Writing, Stephen King discusses how once he didn’t write for several weeks due to an accident, and how when he started to write again, his words weren’t flowing well.
That’s how inconsistency weakens your writing muscle, and that’s why blogging, which keeps you writing regularly, helps you write better.
#4 BLOGGING BUILDS YOUR CONFIDENCE
I used to be a timid introvert. Until I started blogging. Blogging helps you learn to voice your opinions, dare to be wrong and stop being so scared to make mistakes. Your blog gives you a platform. It helps you tell your own story. With blogging, you learn to recognize and build your strength, and also admit and improve on your weaknesses. Blogging establishes your authority in your niche. With conversations happening on your blog, you learn to hear flattery without being carried away and take criticisms without losing your cool.
#5 BLOGGING HELPS YOU SPEAK MORE COHERENTLY
A great speech starts with a sound script. The more you learn and share ideas about your areas of interests on your blog, the more comfortable you get discussing them verbally.
And over time, you grow confidence to face an audience and manage your nervousness on your subjects of interest. Soon, this diffuses to other verbal conversations.
#6 BLOGGING CAN MAKE YOU MONEY
Earning decent incomes from your blog is attainable once you create value with, and grow an audience around it. Many big blogs make millions of dollars every year. To make money with your blog, you must treat it as business not as hubby. Blogging about what your target audience is passionate about is the way to go.
The number one secret to successful blogging is good content and a good content is what add values to your audience because they are passionate it. If you want to make money from blogging don’t take it as a hubby but as a business. And me? I’m not a millionaire but I’ve made tens of thousands of dollars from blogging over the years. And I’ve done that while having ample time for my family and other engagements I enjoy. You can continue reading the 35 Numerous benefits of blogging and come back here to continue.
Overcoming Your Blogging Fears
Before I started blogging, I had hesitations and struggles about it for different reasons. But more than anything, through all of the struggles I faced, there were many enemies that kept popping up time and time again, each time in different forms than the last. These enemies were fierce, determined, and relentless, and eventually I had no choice but to either confront them, or forever commit to a life of running.
Finally, I decided to turn-around, face these enemies, and conquer them. These fears are:
- Fear of whether blogging is my future
- Comparing myself to another person
- Fear of money to start blogging,
- You are not an expert
- Fear of putting my myself out there
- Thought That People will be mean to me
- Afraid No One Will Read My Blog
- Fear of Low self confidence
- Fear of managing too many ideas
- Fear of Running out of ideas
I was so glad that I was able to look past those and go forward with what I wanted to do. Hopefully this helps you do the same! Talking about blogging and why so many people get scared before they hit publish on their first post has become necessary. Most people that get into blogging have never started their own business before so they don’t understand the anxiety that comes along with it.
